FA 325 Medieval Art
An examination of sculpture, painting, and manuscript illumination, plus architectural decorations such as mosaic, fresco, and stained glass, from the 4th through the 14th century in Western Europe and Byzantium. Works of art are investigated within the historical context of theology, political power, changing social structures and practices, and Europe’s interactions with non-Western civilizations. Prerequisite: FA 201 or permission of instructor. Liberal Arts Core/University Requirements Designation: GP. (3)
