FA 390 History of Design
An examination of the development of design and the applied arts in Europe and America from around 1700 to the modern day. This examination takes place within the historical context of changing materials and modes of production as well as patterns of marketing and consumption. Reference will be made to design from earlier periods and to contemporary movements in the fine arts. Prerequisite: FA 202 or permission of instructor.
