HCM 585 Global Health Care

Explores the social, political, economic, demographic, and cultural determinants of health and health care and the development of various health care systems around the world. Students will analyze and compare theories and models of health policy and access. The course will examine international health care development and social change around the globe. The roles of different international health organizations will be defined and examined. Students will reflect on how the global health issues impact the U.S. health care system. Emphasis will be placed on health care management strategies used in different countries to allocate and maintain resources to improve on health status and delivery of care. Prerequisite: HCM 510.
