NU 236 Fundamentals of Nursing
This course introduces the student to the fundamental knowledge, attitudes, and skills underlying professional nursing practice, including the theoretical foundation for developing clinical judgment, the nursing process, and evidence based practice. There is a focus on developing communication and collaborative skills for working with patients, families, and other health professionals. Through the use of classroom, skills lab and clinical experiences students are prepared to utilize the nursing process in implementing nursing skills and basic nursing technologies for the provision of safe and quality patient-centered care in a variety of settings. Prerequisites: BIO 161, BIO 162, CHM 125. Prerequisites or corequisites: NU 226 and NU 234. Liberal Arts Core/University Requirements Designation: DSINQ. (4)
