FA 215 Wheel-Thrown Ceramics

This course will introduce students to working with clay on the wheel. Students will learn basic throwing techniques consisting of centering, pulling, and shaping clay into functional vessels while concentrating on design and craftsmanship. They will supplement their wheel throwing skills with process related activities such as making clay and glazes as well as procedures for oxidation firings. Students will also learn about contemporary artists and their concepts through writing reviews from articles given, and through visiting local art exhibitions.
