1999-2000 Marymount University Catalog
Registration

Registration is held on the dates indicated in the Academic Calendar. (See pages 4 and 5) Each undergraduate student is required to register in person at the time and in the manner designated by the registrar after developing a schedule with the academic advisor. All prescribed charges for the ensuing semester must be paid, or otherwise provided for, before registration is complete. No credit will be granted for any course, including independent study, unless registration is completed within the prescribed time at the start of a semester. Responsibility rests with the student to register for the necessary courses in the proper sequence to meet the requirements of the chosen curriculum. The student is expected to seek the academic guidance of a faculty advisor and dean of the School in which the major is offered. No student whose account is in arrears will be permitted to register until all obligations are met. This includes medical and parking fees.

Late Registration

During the second calendar week after the first day of classes, a student may only register for a class with the permission of the instructor and program chair or School dean. A student who registers later than the announced and prescribed registration date will be charged a fee of $50 at the time of registration. Late registration hours are published in the course schedule for each semester.

Course Addition or Withdrawal

The dates for adding or dropping courses with appropriate refunds can be found in the

schedule of courses for each specific semester or summer session. A student wishing to add a course must secure and properly complete an “add” card available from the offices of the School offering the course or the registrar. Properly completed and approved cards must be returned by the student to the Registrar’s Office before the addition of the course is official.

Students should be aware of the last day to drop without academic record published each semester in the Academic Calendar in the Schedule of Classes.

Any withdrawal from a course must be officially recorded in the Registrar’s Office.
A student who stops attending a course without taking the appropriate actions may receive a grade of F. Properly completed and approved “drop” cards must be returned by the student to the registrar before withdrawal from the course is official. Courses added or dropped after deadlines require a $5 fee be submitted to the Registrar’s Office for each course.
