Management Specialty Under the B.B.A.

See Business Administration (B.B.A.).

Management (M.S.)

This program addresses the changing role of managers and helps students retool their skill sets to make them more effective in today's organizations. Advances in information technology have dramatically altered the role of management. For example, middle managers are no longer the coordinating layer in a vertical bureaucracy. They are now active participants in strategy formulation and execution. Middle managers now trigger continual repositioning of an organization for its ongoing success.

The curriculum provides opportunities for students to build the necessary skill sets in basic business competencies, communications, team building, negotiation, change management, and interpersonal skills. The curriculum also builds competency in project management, an increasingly recognized discipline that is distinct from general management.

Students in the program will choose one of two tracks to complete their degree: the Advanced Leadership or Project Management track.

Admission Requirements: It is strongly recommended that candidates have at least two years of managerial experience before applying.

Course Waiver Policy: If a student can demonstrate a depth of prior experience and/or education in a required content area, electives may be substituted for required courses.

Leading and Managing Change (Graduate Certificate)

This program helps managers learn how to overcome resistance to change, seek new alternatives, and connect, in a fundamental way, with the goals of their employees.

Certificate Requirements

Management Studies (Graduate Certificate)

This program is coordinated by Marymount's Office of Corporate Outreach to provide customized education to employees of a client corporation or organization. The University can provide classes on-site at the client's location. The six courses leading to the certificate of Management Studies are selected by the corporate or organizational sponsor from those offered by the School of Business Administration. These courses would be especially chosen to meet the needs of the individual organization, but must be approved by the dean of the School of Business Administration. Students may be eligible to transition to a School of Business Administration degree program upon the successful completion of this certificate program.
