FIN 301 Financial Management (3)
The fundamentals of business finance, including financial analysis, planning, and control; management of working capital; analysis of long-term investment opportunities; and examination of internal and external sources of financing. Prerequisites: MGT 123 and ACT 201.
FIN 334 Investments (3)
Survey of commercial and government investments with emphasis on understanding investment markets, primarily the stock exchanges. Offered fall semester only. Prerequisite: FIN 301.
FIN 362 Intermediate Financial Management (3)
A case study approach to corporate financial problems. The cases provide the basis for class discussion on the approach to financial problem solving. Offered spring semester only. Prerequisite: FIN 301.
FIN 400 Senior Seminar in Finance (3)
An opportunity for assisted self-directed study of a topic of interest. The study will culminate in a paper and oral presentation. Offered spring semester only. Prerequisites: 12 credits in FIN courses and senior status.
FIN 485 International Finance (3)
Develops a conceptual framework for the analysis of financial decisions of the multinational firm. Topics include foreign exchange markets, foreign exchange risk management, parity conditions in international finance, foreign investment analysis, political risk, and financial management of the multinational corporation. Offered fall semester only. Prerequisite: FIN 301.
FIN 500 Introduction to Financial Management (3)
Designed to provide the student with a working vocabulary of financial terms, an understanding of corporate financial statements, and familiarity with basic accounting practices. The course provides an introduction to the techniques of financial planning and budgeting.
FIN 502 Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management (3)
An introduction to the application of modern techniques of investment analysis. The course provides risk-return analysis of municipal bonds, corporate bonds, preferred stocks, and common stocks. Introduction to portfolio management and the criteria for the selection of financial securities to construct a portfolio. Offered fall semester only. Prerequisite: MBA 522.
FIN 503 Financial Markets and Institutions (3)
Illuminates the role and management of financial institutions. Special topics include the term structure of interest rates, determinants of lending, and investment policy of financial institutions. Offered fall semester only. Prerequisites: MBA 520 and MBA 522.
FIN 560 Advanced Financial Management (3)
Develops an understanding of the rapidly evolving theory of financial management so that the student can evaluate the firm’s investment, financing, and dividend decisions in keeping with an objective of increasing shareholder wealth. The course presents the application of analytical techniques to a variety of problems in financial management. Computer applications are integrated throughout the course. Offered spring semester only. Prerequisite: MBA 522.
FIN 582 Neural Networks in Finance (3)
Introduces the utilization of neural networks to financial decision-making situations. Course includes a thorough discussion and presentation of the background, history, and theory of neural networks, followed by case studies involving the application of neural networks to financial decisions, such as bond rating, interest rate forecasting, merger candidate evaluation, and stock price prediction. Included in the course is an opportunity for students to use neural network software to develop a course project. See department chair for course offering schedule. FIN 585 International Finance (3)
Development of a conceptual framework within which the key financial decisions of the multinational corporation (MNC) can be analyzed. International financial issues, along with their implications, are discussed. Topics include foreign markets, foreign exchange, risk management and the hedging techniques; foreign investment and country risk analysis; and the international sources of finance for the MNC. Offered spring semester only. Prerequisites: MBA 520 and MBA 522.

Explores contemporary topics in finance. Offered spring semester only. Prerequisite: MBA 522.
