Health Care Management (M.S.)
The program’s mission is to provide the highest quality education in health care management in order to develop future leaders who apply their skills in a market-driven health care system. The program prepares students for a career in health care by providing core business skills integrated with specialized training in the unique characteristics of the health care environment. The curriculum focuses on the current and relevant issues in health care and encompasses the fast-paced and dynamic changes in the health care field. The program is committed to exhibiting the highest professional and ethical standards, addressing the needs of both individuals and health care organizations, providing health care education to the local community, and encouraging participation in community services. The program is also dedicated to contributing to the field through publication and scholarly and community activities.
To accomplish its mission, the program’s goals are:
- to identify, develop, and educate health care leaders in Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, and the Maryland suburbs;
- to provide a curriculum that is meaningful and assists students in developing the critical knowledge and skills to be effective managers and leaders in the health services industry;
- to recruit and retain a faculty that is academically prepared to effectively respond to industry demands of health care management and health care institutions;
- to expand and contribute knowledge of the field through scholarly activities such as research and publication; and
- to be a valuable resource to the academic and health care communities of Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, and the Maryland suburbs.
The M.S. in Health Care Management program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).
Admission Requirements: The School of Business Administration strongly recommends that candidates have at least two years of work experience before applying.
